The hiring problem

Why product management hiring is harder than it looks

"An effective Product Manager should be providing your CPO more time. This is hard to assess, determining who can walk the walk, not just talk the talk.  We work on assessing Product Manager's in how they handle ambiguity, how they earn trust with engineers without authority, and whether they can own a complex problem end to end.

We want to see whether they can connect their decisions back to the company’s north star and commercial objectives, ensuring product moves the business forward."

A PM suited to a product-led growth motion in a B2B SaaS business needs a fundamentally different profile from a PM managing a two-sided marketplace with supplier and buyer economics, or a PM in an intelligence platform where the product is the data itself. Most agencies treat these as the same search. We do not.

We work on understanding the brief before we go to market - understanding your commercial model, the specific problems the hire needs to solve in months one through twelve, and where the previous hire succeeded or failed. This shapes who we look for.

SaaS and AI

Product-led growth

PLG motions, self-serve, freemium conversion, usage-based models. PMs who understand how product drives acquisition and retention - not just delivery.

Intelligence Platforms

Building from proprietary data

Businesses building new commercial propositions from proprietary data. PMs who understand data monetisation, API-led distribution, and third-party commercialisation of data assets.

Enterprise

Sales-led to product-led

Established businesses transitioning to product-led growth. PMs who navigate governance, manage upwards into non-product leadership, and translate constraints into strategy.

Roles we recruit for

Every level of the product function

We recruit across the full product function, from first PM hire through to leadership.

Individual contributor roles

Product Manager

The core of the product function. Owns a product area or feature set independently. Manages stakeholders, defines requirements, works with engineers and designers from discovery through to delivery. UK median salary GBP 70,000.

Technical PM

Works closely with engineering on infrastructure, platform and API products. Often a former software engineer. UK salaries can reach up to £130,000 in larger companies.

Senior Product Manager

Independent ownership of complex product areas. The most in-demand profile in the market. Senior PM salaries ranging from GBP 67,000 to GBP 109,100 depending on seniority and sector.

Data Product Manager

Manages data as a product - pipelines, data marketplaces, analytics products, data monetisation and more. Typical UK salary range GBP 75,000 to GBP 120,000, depending on businesses ambitions and maturity.

Product leadership roles

Head of Product

The most common product leadership hire we make. Owns the team, the process and the senior stakeholder relationships. A successful Head of Product hire changes how a CPO spends their week. Salary range GBP 90,000 to GBP 135,000.

Chief Product Officer (CPO)

Strategic product leadership at executive level. Placed through our dedicated CPO executive search practice. Salaries carn range from £150,000 to £300,000, depending on the companies size, maturity, investment and additional renumeration in terms of equity and bonuses.

VP of Product

Commercial accountability alongside product strategy. The bridge between the product function and the board. Common in Series B and C businesses. Salaries have an extremely broad range of between £120,000 to £180,000.

Salary benchmarks

Looking to hire product manager's, owners or more senior team members?

Want to know what salary bandings professionals expect?

Need experienced Headhunters to help you find top talent?

Salary bandings have become broader and less reliable as a standalone benchmark. Job titles are increasingly used interchangeably and some businesses offer senior titles without the scope or compensation to match. Company size, funding stage, maturity, sector and location all drive significant variation within every band.

Company stage

The right PM for where you are now

The right PM profile depends as much on where your business is as on what the role involves. We advise on profile before we source.

Pre-seed / Series A

First PM hire

Ambiguity tolerance, no-ego execution, 0-to-1 experience. The profile is completely different from a PM joining an established function. We help you define what this hire needs to own before we start sourcing.

Series B / C

Building the function

When does a Senior PM become a Head of Product? When does a Head of Product become a VP Product? We advise on structure during the briefing and source accordingly.

Enterprise

Sales-led to product-led

Established organisations transitioning to product-led growth need PMs who can navigate governance, manage upwards, and translate organisational constraints into product strategy without losing momentum.

Industries we hire for

Specialist Product Management recruitment across Digital and Tech

Our product recruitment practice has built active talent pools across a broad range of digital and technology sectors. While some businesses begin their search looking for a general IT recruitment agency for product manager roles, or a tech staffing agency with product management specialism, what we offer is a dedicated product management consultancy approach - one that understands how the product challenge differs by sector, not just by seniority.

SaaS, Fintech, and RegTech

The complexity of modern SaaS, financial technology and regulated markets requires product professionals who understand more than feature delivery. We place product managers who are genuinely comfortable with the technical and regulatory environments they operate in.

  • RegTech and FinTech: product managers familiar with regulated markets, compliance-heavy roadmaps, secure financial integrations and the constraints of FCA-regulated product development.

  • HealthTech and Life Sciences: PMs who can navigate patient data security, clinical workflow products and the intersection of user-centred design with regulatory requirement.

  • Cybersecurity: specialists who understand fraud detection, threat intelligence products and the commercial logic of security platforms

  • AdTech: product professionals experienced in real-time bidding platforms, performance optimisation products and the technical complexity of digital and programmatic advertising.

  • MarTech: product leaders who can manage complex B2B sales cycles, integrate marketing intelligence platforms and translate data signals into product decisions.

  •

Digital, eCommerce and emerging technology

For businesses where the interface is the product and commercial performance is measured in conversion, engagement and retention, we source candidates who understand how product decisions interact directly with trading outcomes.

  • eCommerce and online marketplaces: senior product managers experienced in multi-sided platforms, complex logistics integrations, trading performance and marketplace economics.

  • Content, streaming and digital broadcast: product professionals with a deep understanding of streaming technologies, digital rights management and global audience scaling.

  • AI and machine learning: we track product talent in the AI space specifically - candidates who can translate machine learning capabilities into commercially viable features and data-driven product experiences.

  • Intelligence platforms and data commercialisation: PMs who understand how to build products where proprietary data is the commercial asset - API-led distribution, data marketplace models and third-party data monetisation.

  • Telco and digital agencies: supporting both internal product functions within telecommunications businesses and client-facing digital agencies requiring high-velocity product manager recruitment.

Orchestrating the Product Lifecycle

Modern product management jobs require a deep grasp of varied frameworks. As one of the leading product manager recruitment agencies, we source candidates who excel at:

  • Operating within Ambiguity: The company, business objectives, customers needs are constantly evolving, requiring Product Managers to align shifting priorities with commercial outcomes.

  • Determining Roadmaps: Aligning long-term goals with stakeholder expectations and market intelligence.

  • MVP Planning & Execution: Taking complete ownership of MVP definition, from initial concept to launch execution.

  • Methodology & Frameworks: Defining the best approach, whether Scrum, Kanban, or Agile, to help a business scale.

  • Hosting Standups: Leading development teams through daily standups to solve product-related problems and maintain delivery velocity.
